Make your own essential oils

Hi Friends!!! I’ve had such a lovely weekend. It was quiet and relaxing, I started off a few days ago by making my own essential oils and it turned out beautifully 🙂 I just love using oils to relax or help me with pain relief or discomfort. Adding some essential oils to a bath of water or giving myself a little mini massage always does the trick. Its an easy way to make essential oils and you can do it in your own home. You can make almost any flavor you desire. You can use fresh herbs, spices, flowers, tree leaves and citrus peels. These oils are safe for anyone no matter their age or health level because its not a concentrated mixture.

Choose the flavors you like, whether it be herbs or citrus fruits. If you’re using herbs, pull the leaves or flowers from the stems, for citrus peels, squeeze and break them a little to release more of their essence, then place the plant material you have chosen in a screw cap bottle. I used rosemary, grapefruit peels and black pepper for my mixture.

Cover the plant material with oil and screw the bottle. Leave it in the bottle for a few weeks and then filter the mixture to separate the oil from the plant material.  I did mine in separate containers, but you could mix them all together from the beginning. If you don’t want to wait weeks, you can sqeeze the plant material down into the bottle every 24 hours for 6-7 days before filtering.

This particular mixture I have made reduces muscle pains, especially after sporting events. I use it for when I go to the gym to help with the recovery.

For big sporting events like marathons, the trick is to start applying the oil three days before the event and then self massaging everyday until event day 🙂

If you’re a sportsman or women and don’t have the time to make your own oils you can create this a massaging oil by mixing the following together;

  • 20 ml almond or grape seed oil
  • 3 drops grapefruit oil
  • 4 drops rosemary
  • 3 drops black pepper

Grapefruit oil is a top-note oil, it stimulates the lymph system, rosemary is a middle note oil that relieves muscle pain and black-pepper is a middle note oil that relieves muscle cramps, strengthens muscles and… its a good oil to use for preparation of sports and sport events.

Tips: Press the plant material down in the bottle with a spoon to release more juices, you can do this every 24-48 hours.

I really enjoyed sharing this with you and hope that you would use it for your next sporting event 😀
